Twenty years ago, after a divorce, we discovered that our God heals marriages, as He put our family back
together again. During the past two decades, time and time again, we have also seen the healing hand of
God at work in our lives, in the lives of our family, and in the lives of people we care about. We know,
beyond any doubt, that our God heals.
If you, or someone you love, are in need of physical healing, we invite you to subscribe to "Our God
Heals." Every few days we will be sending you a brief email of encouragement. Some days we will be sharing
a favorite healing scripture. On others, we may share part of the Steinkamp story. Regardless of the
message, the motive is to encourage you to always remember that our God heals. We pray that you will
be helped by what you receive.
"Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent
forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the Lord for

November 25, 2007MALL MONKEYS
Out of all the high-tech Christmas toys available at the mall, I found myself fascinated by three little monkeys climbing steps. They operated not by batteries, but by perpetual motion. Each time I picked one of them up and sat it down in a different place, it would continue doing what I had started.
Did you ever think about how much healthy living, as well as unhealthy living, continues on as if by perpetual motion? Some action sets the cycle into place, and we continue from there. Getting back into a shirt that has not been worn for years always takes away my appetite.
On the other side, I suspect we both have failed at many "diets," through perpetual motion. One cookie sounds so good, and, after all, we read that it only has a few calories. Two minutes later, we are taking an advance on tomorrow’s snack by eating another cookie. Soon, the container is empty,
"What’s the use?" I have muttered with resignation, “I can’t lose weight, so why torture myself?” I then do some self-reasoning about God loving heavy people, and about how the spiritual body matters more than the physical body. The bottom line is more diet food and equipment that will never be used.
My prayer for you is that you will see how little it takes to start the perpetual motion of healthy living. Make some wise decisions at breakfast tomorrow. Park in the far end of the lot and walk to the building. Pass up the doughnuts. Be wise to what you can eat sensibly tomorrow afternoon. Skip the bedtime snack. You can go to sleep knowing that you have been good to your body. Do not be surprised after a few days of doing this, that your clothes feel a small bit looser, of if your face looks better in the mirror. That perpetual motion is in action. You are on the way to your goal of a body fit for serving the Lord.
This same concept can also carry over into your Christian walk, and then right into your stand for a marriage healed by God. Charlyne has told some new Christians to start by reading something in their Bible every day. If she had told them to read two chapters a day, they might have folded, but once they develop the habit of getting into God’s Word every day, the time spent there will increase.
Today one of those little toy animals toys hung up on something while I was watching. That did not deter the other two from continuing right on by perpetual motion. Sadly, we have seen standers who fell like mall monkeys when the enemy’s attack became especially severe, but even greater, we have seen standers who continued on their path toward a healed home when others fell.
Regardless of what kind of perpetual motion sets us into action, being it healthy living, or holy living, it is the power of the Holy Spirit that will empower us to completion. May you and I always take the first step when God calls and He will do the rest.
"O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you." Psalm 63:1-5

October 10, 2007HEALED
We received a healing testimony from a standing friend in Nevada. This will be in our Saturday Testimonies, but I wanted to share it first with others who are also praying for God's healing:
"I wrote to you to ask for prayer because I had been told I had cancer, (lymphoma and leukemia). Since then, I had chemo. Today I got results of a post-chemo CAT scan, bone and bone marrow biopsies. As expected, the scan showed all lymph nodes normal size. I guess I am the only one that expected good results on the biopsies. The doctor said my bones and bone marrow are totally disease free! He said the pathologist even called to make sure they had sent the proper sample. He was really amazed, and said I had a lot of disease in my bones before chemo. Then he got on a roll using the word 'amazing' and said he was amazed at how well I did with chemo, and that he had given me really strong drugs and expected me to get a lot sicker than I did. (I even kept up my running program all summer, although somewhat limited). I told my doctor it was God and prayer. Hopefully someday he will see that it really was. I believe this disease will be a witness to family and friends, and that God has turned toward good what the devil meant for evil. God is good, all the time." (Nevada)

October 8, 2007SICK AND FEARFUL
"The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Psalm 118:6
When disease strikes, fear also comes in, if we are not very careful. We know of several standers who are facing or have just received a diagnosis of cancer, in addition to marriage problems. If they do not keep their eyes on Jesus, fear could overtake them. Many others have very serious illness in their families
"Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe." Proverbs 29:25
Do not be afraid! God is in control of your life. Whatever happens has been filtered through the mighty hands of God. Throughout the Bible we read the phrase, "Do not be afraid," but what emotions and feelings are you fighting from the enemy? Fear?
Have you read Psalm 91 during your illness? Do so this very day. It will encourage and help you.
Your Lord God is greater than satan! Trusting, loving and leaning on the Lord completely casts out all fear.
"The Lord is my light and my salvation--whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life--of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalm 27:1
"When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?...Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me. In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise--in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" Psalm 56:3-4,9-11
Throughout the Bible, we read about men of God who had to choose to be afraid or believe and trust in their Lord God. Moses faced the Egyptians. Joshua had to lead two million people into the promised land with giants. Daniel faced Goliath. Have faith, trust and confidence in your Lord God.
Sometimes fear can immobilize you. One remedy to fear is to not focus on the fear or your problem; instead put your focus on your Lord. Is the Lord asking you to read the Bible more, pray scriptures more, learn about spiritual warfare, put discipline in your life or maybe other things? Many times God expects us to put action into His commands. How big is your God? Our God can do anything. Believe in His mighty power.
"After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward." Genesis 15:1
Tell fear to be gone in the name of Jesus. You can face your problems with confidence in your Lord God rather than with fear. Learn to depend and rely on God. As you acknowledge God's mighty power and your own inadequacy to handle a problem, fear will flee. Let's get rid of all yor fears! Give them to your Lord God and allow Him to solve and remove them.
"I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears." Psalm 34:4

August 29, 2007 One of the most popular items on the Rejoice Marriage Ministries web site is The Stander’s Affirmation. We hear from people who print these out and place them around their home as a reminder of what God can do. Tuesday morning I woke up with something on my heart that I want to share with you.
ANOTHER STANDERS AFFIRMATION
I am standing for the healing of my body! I will not give up, give in, give out or give over 'til that healing takes place. I heard the doctors, I hid the clothes that did not fit, I saw the scaled creeping up, I looked at my trimmer photos and cried. God gave me warning that I chose to ignore, but now, and only with His help, I am doing something about bad eating habits. I trusted GOD, and said the words, and meant the words, “... in sickness and in health,” and now I stand to do my part to regain my health, so I am standing for a healthier me, and will not sit down, let down, slow down, calm down, fall down, look down or be down 'til the excess baggage on my body is torn down!
I refuse to put my eyes on quick fixes, or listen to prophets of fad diets, or buy into what is trendy, worldly, popular, convenient, easy, quick, thrifty, or too good to be true... nor will I settle for a cheap imitation of God's real thing, nor will I seek to lower God's standard for my life and for body, twist God's will, rewrite God's Word on health, nor will I violate God's plan for me, or accept an early death because of my bad habits, obesity!
In a overweight world, I will stay in shape; surrounded by fast foods, I will eat healthy; where sweets abound, I will hope in God, where snacking is tempting, I will opt for something healthy; and where the odds are stacked against me, I will trust in God's faithfulness to help me withstand overeating temptation.
I am a STANDER, and I will not acquiesce, compromise, quarrel or quit. I have made the choice, set my face, started the diet, believed the Word, and trusted God for all the outcome.
I will allow neither the temptation of hot donuts, nor the circumstances, nor the justifications to overeat, nor grocery displays of junk food, nor the prompting of the devil to make me let up, slow up, blow up, or give up 'til my body is healed of this excess weight.

P.S. This comes from my heart. There are 85 less pounds than there of me eight months ago! I praise the Lord for what He is helping me to do.
August 12, 2007A SUNDAY OF HEALING
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good, and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him." Acts 10:38b
On this Sunday morning, every prayer request for healing that the Ministry has received falls into one of two group. First are the people acutely ill, such as cancer victims, people in ICU, and victims of accidents. God is at work right now, healing bodies and restoring, because someone has called, and continues to call on Him, trusting Him for health to be returned. No disease or diagnosis is too difficult for Him.
The second group is much larger. Their physical problems are an indirect result of what has happened to their marriage. The unexplained headaches, high blood pressure, various pains and symptoms are real, but taking place because they have internalized their problems. Charlyne and I know about these illnesses, because we have both been there while going through separation and divorce.
Jesus is walking the hospital corridors today, and healing people. He is also walking the aisles at church, ready to heal people, when they call on Him. Will you cast your every care on the Lord today, allowing Him to heal you, instead of you carrying the burden alone? This could be your day for healing.
Illness and disease, large and small, our Lord Jesus can heal them all.
"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us." Ephesians 3:20
